Matthew 28:1 - The English Translators Got This One All Wrong
Matthew 28:1 in the KJV reads: “In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.”
Matthew 28:1 should be translated from the Greek as follows: “In the end of the High Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the Weekly Sabbath, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.”
The english translators did not realize that during the week of Passover/Unleavened Bread there are two Sabbaths. The first is a High Sabbath and the second is the 7th-Day Weekly Sabbath. See Matthew 28:1 in the Interlinear Bible for more clarification and notice the word “sabbatōn,” which means Sabbath appears twice in the verse. There is no “first day of the week” mentioned in the original Greek in this verse. It was added in error by the translators. See Interlinear Bible here:
